Mike is a former Army Officer who in the latter stages of his career developed a specialism in urban counter terrorism operations and major incident management.

On leaving the army he worked for the LAS in a variety of senior management roles leading departments responsible for health emergency preparedness and logistics before being appointed as Assistant Director of Operations with responsibility for operational and clinical delivery in South London.

With 25 years’ experience in and around the ambulance sector, Mike provides assistance in the delivery of various AACE projects including support to the NDOG work programme. He has completed work programmes on behalf of ambulance trusts and the DH in relation to emergency preparedness, flu pandemic planning and performance improvement initiatives.

Mike has led a range of ‘critical friend’ reviews designed to offer assurance to trust boards and identify common themes and opportunities for collective improvement between ambulance trusts. He has worked closely with DHSC, NHSE and other partners representing ambulance services’ interests in the design and implementation of new operating models, performance and quality standards, and clinical improvements. He has extensive experience of internal and external stakeholder management at a senior level which has enabled the ambulance sector to shape and influence policy.
