Paul Woodrow OBE has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the NHS in the UK spanning over thirty years. He joined the London Ambulance Service (LAS) in 1991 where his clinical career included time spent working in frontline operations as an ambulance technician before qualifying as a health professional registered paramedic, he also went on to further qualify as a specialist flight paramedic with London Air Ambulance.
He then transitioned from his clinical career into a fast-track operational management development pathway where he held a number of senior and executive positions within the service with responsibility for operational delivery, performance, emergency preparedness and crisis management. He has also undertaken roles in the wider NHS system and has worked with other ambulance service and pre-hospital service providers both nationally and internationally advising on operational delivery, productivity and efficiency, systems and process redesign, emergency preparedness and crisis management.
Paul has a significant amount of board level experience in the NHS. He also held the role of accountable emergency officer with LAS for five years, visibly leading the organisations response to numerous major incidents including the Grenfell Tower fire and the multiple terrorist attacks in London in 2017. He was awarded an OBE in 2019 for services to leadership in the NHS.
Since commencing his role with the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) in 2019 he has delivered on many large projects and contracts with Ambulance service providers in the UK, Europe and Canada.
He is an accomplished and highly motivated executive level health leader with an evidenced history and track record of delivery at the highest level in the pre-hospital and wider healthcare system operating environment.
